5- Noosa River
I surprisingly had not taken too many shots down at the river up until recently. I’m glad i did go and suss it out as there is plenty to work with composition wise. With Boats, Jetty’s, Mangroves, birds and sandbars on offer there is something to shoot for everyone.
The 2 shots below were both shot at sunset however sunrise would work at these spots as well. The one left was taken at Gympie Terrance and the one on the right being taken along the rock wall at the rivermouth.
4- Granite Bay
Granite Bay is one of my favorite spots on the coast let alone noosa. It can be found on the Noosa National Park track and is about a 25 minute walk from the car. The rocks down on the beach are perfect for some long exposure shots and also it is tucked away from the City lights which makes it a great spot for shooting the milky way! Because the bay faces north it can be shot at both sunrise and sunset.
3- Noosa Main Beach
The Main Beach at Noosa must be one of the most well known in Australia. Being a local i hadn’t really appreciated it until i started photography. If you get up early enough to beat the crowds you can be reminded of just how lucky we are to have this stretch of sand on our doorstep.
2- Noosa Hinterland
There are some stunning spots up in the hinterland but Cootharaba Rd in Particular is my personal favorite. You will find it halfway between Boreen Point and Pomona which is about 25mins from Noosa Heads. It has great views of Mt Cooroora and after rain the rolling green hills look spectacular. This is also my go to spot to watch our spring/summer storms roll in.
1- Lake Weyba
Lake Weyba is my favorite Photography spot on the coast. It is roughly a 10 minute drive south of Noosa Heads. The main Township is found on the western side of the lake and gives you easy access to a perfect sunrise spot. The many weathered old trees that line the shore make great subjects and combined with a still morning and some colorful clouds can leave you in awe!
